Carpet, nursery, and baby

Our entire apartment is hardwood floors with the exception of the kitchen and bathroom which are tiled. I love the look of hardwood but it's not very cozy. Two weeks ago Edward and I found a large area carpet (12' x 11') at Home Depot for an excellent price. We drove it home sticking out the back of the explorer, Edward nearly broke his back hauling it up the stairs, and after hours of moving couches, tv, etc, we got the carpet all unrolled to find a large gray line down the middle of it. After Edward went through all this work (I merely supervised and cleaned the dog hair/dust behind and under the couches) there was no way we were going to bring it back. There was also no way I was going to let this slide. I took photos of the stain and Edward and I went back to Home Depot this last weekend and got $50 back, making the final price an absolute steal. I resolved the heck out of the stain and it is barely visible now. We love our new carpet, Piper, too, and I'm sure the baby will appreciate having a soft place to crawl around.

Light colored carpet + black dog (who sheds a ton) = not good! Fortunately I have an excellent vacuum that now gets a daily workout.

The stain, which is mostly gone and covered by the ottoman anyway.

We've been working quite a bit on the nursery. We'll, I should say "I've" been working on the nursery. Edward did the painting but the rest has been my project. It's not together enough to show pictures of the entire room, but I'll post some snippets so you can get an idea of what it looks like.

This is not an accurate representation of the paint color. It is much more vibrant and lime colored than this pictures shows. I tried different flash settings on my camera but couldn't capture the true color.

Quilt in progress. This will hang on the wall.

This is part of a much smaller quilt that I made using some leftover fabric. This will not hang on the wall.

The two pictures above are part of wall art that I am working on. Can you guess what it is? Probably not. I stole the idea from Pottery Barn Kids, however I think I greatly improved upon what they did. I'll post pictures of the final project when it is complete.

Super cute bumper from Jane and Jim, Edward's parents.

Piper hanging out in the nursery. We still have a copier and desk in the room (on the right) which we need to remove. I'd also like to get a small area carpet.

Baby's tiny wardrobe

Baby Shuman (who is still nameless) weighs a little over 3 pounds and is about 17 inches long. He's almost reached his full length but his body weight will double to triple over the next ten weeks. Sunday night I had my first Braxton-Hicks contraction. My stomach got real hard and I was a little uncomfortable for a minute or so, but no big deal. If only real labor were like that! Another new feeling for me is baby hiccups! I started feeling them about a week ago but it didn't dawn on me until last night what I was feeling. It feels like small little kicks in a rhythmic pattern. I thought my stomach was twitching but after some googling it makes perfect sense that the baby has the hiccups.

Overall I am feeling great. My back pain has subsided quite a bit, although it hurts to go from a lying position to sitting. Heartburn has returned a bit, but nothing too bad. I had a glucose tolerance test last week and haven't heard from the doctor so I'm assuming I do not have gestational diabetes. I have another routine doctor's appointment tomorrow and what I am *really* looking forward to is our 3D/4D ultrasound appointment on Tuesday. My parents are coming up for that.

Check back for ultrasound pictures next week!
