Sweet treats

Piper has a severe case of cabin fever. Doesn't she look bored with life?

Edward and I rearranged the dining room this week. We took a leaf out of the dining room table, flipped the table 90 degrees, and brought in the big green chair that had been in the office/nursery. I really like this new arrangement. We never really sit at the table (it basically holds mail) so there was no need for it to take up so much of the room. There's more room now that will soon be filled with a high chair, baby swing, exersaucer, etc.

This is how the table used to be oriented.

25 weeks (and a day)

Baby Shuman is just over 25 weeks old and while these picture below are not of him they show babies at the same stage of development. Edward and I have an appointment in early March to see these super cool 3D/4D images of our son. I got to tag along to Sarah's ultrasound appointment when she was pregnant with my niece, Maddie, and it is truly amazing to get a peek inside the womb.

Teeny Tiny Baby Clothes

So small!
(I can't seem to flip this picture the correct way)

There's no denying that girl's clothing are overall much cuter (what beats a sweet little smocked dress?), but I think I found some pretty cute little boy pieces. They are hanging in the nursery closet, just waiting to be worn!

Ultrasound pictures

Not the greatest ultrasound shots I've seen, but here they are...
Top left: proof that baby is a boy--I wish I could be more specific but I'm a bit unclear on what I'm looking at myself

Top right: blurry profile of head (he was moving a lot, difficult to get clear shot)

Bottom left: another profile of head, hand up by mouth, ribs on the right

Bottom right: this is from our nine week appt, you're seeing entire jellybean shaped uterus and baby body (large alien-like head, little arm sticking out)

Hopefully we'll have some better ultrasound pictures in a couple months.

I'm back

Well, it's snowing again. I believe this is the fifth snowfall we've had since early December. We would normally be on our way to church about now but decided not to go today. It's snowing pretty hard and it's terribly slippery from all packed snow from other storms. So we'll stay in and listen to one of Craig's (pastor from Calvary) old sermons online. Edward is taking this opportunity to sleep in so I thought I should finally update the blog.

I spent 12 relaxing days in NJ over the holidays. Edward had to come back and work a few days between Christmas and New Years, but he was with my family most of the time. Basically we did a whole lot of eating, lounging, and tv watching (numerous seasons of Arrested Development). The few days Edward was gone I ventured out to Lancaster, PA to visit a friend from Messiah College who I hadn't seen since 2001. I then drove to Kennett Square, PA to visit Kristin, a friend who taught with me in Virginia.

We came back to New Haven two weeks ago and my latest project has been planning the nursery. I'll keep those details under wraps until I have some pictures to post. We took a tour of the Yale New Haven Hospital as well as a smaller hospital in the area and decided we'll deliver at the smaller hospital. I signed up for a childbirth prep class, we (my mom, sisters, and I) found a date that works for my baby shower (!), and we had a 24 week checkup on Thursday (all is well). Baby Shuman will be here before we know it! I still have to get Edward to scan in our ultrasound pictures...I'll bug him about that today. Oh, and Baby Shuman is extremely active. Each day I watch my belly doing a crazy dance as he somersaults and elbows and kicks me. It's quite entertaining.

Here are a bunch of pictures from the last month (in no particular order):

My old Messiah friend, Gwenyth, and her adorable daughter, Hannah

Reunited after 8 years!

I forgot to take a picture with Kristin. She is the beautiful bridesmaid on the left.

Christmas Eve at the Garcia's.

Snow on New Year's Eve

I don't like squirrels but I felt bad for this little guy outside our window in New Haven. He was curled up like this for over a half hour until some other squirrel came and tried to knock him off the branch. He looked so cold!

Christmas tree on the New Haven Green.

Last night was date night at Ikea (swedish meatballs, great shopping, dollar ice cream cone--doesn't get any better!) and we found this great (and super cheap) dog food stand that we just had to get for Piper. She has outgrown her puppy bowls so these bigger bowls are perfect, plus she doesn't have to strain her neck anymore to reach her food and water. She loves it!

Poor Piper looks pretty mangy. We aren't so good about brushing her.
