August

Sorry I haven't been blogging lately. No real excuse, just too busy enjoying the summer. Here's what we've been up to this month...

Meet the new Forrest Gump who loves to run, run, run

and play with dirty cones

Sunflower maze--we were unimpressed

He's just about ready for his driver's test

Pretzel, new favorite snack, and Elmo, favorite furry friend

Best buds

Playing in the hose water (this was a frequent scene in my parents' driveway this summer)

My parents' backyard is loaded with hummingbirds. I fear I'll have an eyeball poked out every time I go outside.

Mighty mini popsicles--yum!

a little sour perhaps

Back to the boardwalk with Daddy
The long locks you see here on Nate are no more. He just had his first haircut. More on that in a future post.

So he might not like cotton candy, but Nate LOVED funnel cake. I guess he is my son.

Here they come!

There they go! AND...we lost.

More hose time

Airplane!
Nate is a pro at hearing and spotting planes and helicopters.

Last weekend I spent my very first night away from Nate. Edward and I spent a night at the lovely Borgata in A.C. I could blab on about our time there but I'll just sum it by saying it was wonderful! (although of course I did miss my little boy)

more snoozing
and more adorable nakedness

Ocean, Sand, Pool, Eat, Repeat!

That pretty much summarizes last Thursday through Sunday down in Florida with Edward's parents. This was our first vacation with Nate and we had a great time.

Edward was in charge of taking a picture of Nate on his first plane ride. Had I looked at this gem of a picture at the time, I would have demanded he take another.

The flight did not start off on a good foot. I gave Nate a bottle of milk to drink as we took off. He guzzled about six ounces and no more than two minutes after take off he vomited ALL OVER--all over me, all over Edward, all over himself, and my seat and seat belt. EWW. We were wet and smelled of sour milk. We stripped off as much clothing as we could and wiped up the rest. Sarah wisely advised me to bring plastic bags, which we put the smelly clothes in, and a change of clothes for Nate. If only I'd known I'd need a change of clothes for me and Edward, too.

After a little fussiness Nate did fall asleep and stayed asleep the rest of the short flight.

These aren't his painting pants, that's vomit.

As soon as we got to the hotel we put our suits on and went for a dip in the wonderfully warm (think bathtub) water.

Our hotel. We were fourth floor center--yup, the rooms with floor to ceiling windows.

Jim, Nate, and Edward

We had a kitchen and washer/dryer, both which came in handy.

Nate had fun zipping around from room to room.

Heated pool (which was almost too warm, and if I'm saying that, you know it was warm)

Ready for dinner after our first day in Florida

Reading with Jim

Nate loved the ocean. It actually lulled him to sleep several times. The first time it happened I noticed his head dipping forward and was shocked he was actually sleeping. I pulled him out of his float, laid him on a towel, and he slept for a good hour and a half.

Do you see Edward's tiny head out in the water?

Strawberries and blueberries for lunch

I love Nate's curls! It seems that while I was pregnant the curls were sucked out of my hair and given to him. Now I'm left with frizzy, lifeless waves.

The only picture of me from vacation.

The Shuman men

Eyelashes!

Drinking and coloring (two colors at once)--this kid is talented.

Hanging out in bed. I love the morning light in these pictures.

Beach nap #2

Enjoying the spectacular view

Bubbles!

We left at the crack of dawn on Monday morning and Edward was at work by noon. What a great little getaway. Thank you, Jim and Jane!

On the way home Nate fell asleep about two minutes after take off and slept the entire flight. Phew!

One more thing...today is our third wedding anniversary! I'm so blessed to have such a wonderful man to share my life with.
