Hangin' with daddy

Nate's first July 4th

Did you notice how Nate's outfit matches the cookies? Jessie and I never run out of cookie ideas!

The Shumans!

Aunt Jessie
(I should mention that any time you see a great picture of Nate--clear, good lighting, etc.--it was most likely taken by Jessie. I take the blurry pictures)

Lauren and Nate

Amanda!

Despite the warm weather Nate must be tightly swaddled to sleep or else his arms startle him. Unfortunately this means we need to keep the air conditioning in our bedroom running much more than we'd like.

Nate now tolerates tummy time (he previously hated it--cried whenever he was put on his belly). He is doing much better with head control. This wasn't his best session but you get the idea.

Maddie is so funny!

"I'm a koala"

Nate and Aunt Jessie enjoying a little "What Not to Wear"

Nate doesn't look too sure about the hotsling.

Tummy time!

As many of you already know, Edward's family suffered an unthinkable loss last week. Edward's youngest brother, Willy, died in a car accident on June 20. Willy graduated from high school a month ago and was set to leave for the Air Force Academy where he was to play on their tennis team. If you checked my previous post, there are pictures of the Shumans visiting Nate less than a week before the accident. We are so glad that we got to see Willy one last time and that he got to meet Nate, something he wanted to do before leaving for the academy.

Even though we are still hurting we can take comfort in God's promise...

1 Thessalonians 4:13-14

13Brothers, we do not want you to be ignorant about those who fall asleep [have died], or to grieve like the rest of men, who have no hope. 14We believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.

What a comfort to know that our death is not the end, but the beginning of our new life with Christ.
